New clinics and mobile units will extend preventive services across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
PureHealth is expanding its SEHA CLINICS network across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with a programme of new facilities, service upgrades and mobile units intended to improve access to preventive and primary care.
Announced on 22 September, the 2026 expansion includes six new primary care clinics, three visa screening centres and six mobile healthcare units. Services will also expand at five clinics, while two existing facilities will reopen.
Several sites are already operating, including facilities in Al Rowdha, Saadiyat Island and Liwa. Further openings are planned before the end of the year.
The network is supported by more than 900 doctors across more than 20 specialties. PureHealth says its clinics use AI-supported diagnostics, including radiology reporting and retinal screening, alongside extended opening hours and round-the-clock coverage at selected centres.
The announcement reports 4.1 million outpatient visits during 2025, an increase of 14.5 per cent on the preceding year. Expansion is intended to respond to population growth and bring services closer to neighbourhoods where families live and work.
For patients, the significance of local primary care extends beyond the distance to an appointment. A nearby service can provide a continuing relationship with a clinical team, making it easier to return for advice or follow-up rather than navigating a new provider for each concern.
Mobile units could extend that reach where a permanent clinic is less accessible. Their contribution will depend on how they connect with fixed services, so a screening result leads to an appropriate appointment and information remains available to the team responsible for continuing care.
The inclusion of specialist expertise within primary care also offers an opportunity to examine which services can be delivered locally. Clear arrangements would help clinicians determine when a patient needs referral and when care can continue within the community.
The next assessment should consider how the expanded network affects access across different areas. Appointment availability and continuity would help show whether added capacity meets local needs.
For Abu Dhabi, the programme places primary care within a wider prevention agenda. Its practical value will emerge through the relationship between neighbourhood services and specialist provision, particularly for patients who need regular care over time.
